New Programme lays down our vision of the key problems of transitional period, and success of the reforms in Ukrainian society depends on their resolving. We made an attempt to find solutions to the acute problems of our life. How to combine liberalism of the market with reliable protection of people? How, while developing market economy, it is possible to avoid further stratification of the society? How to guarantee jobs to everybody who is willing to work and increasing wellbeing of people? These and other issues touched upon in the Programme can potentially be disputable. We can not allow for badly thought-over irresponsible decisions to result in a social outcry, liquidation of all democratic freedoms and accomplishments paid for a valuable price.

We are heading towards the future and our best and brightest hopes are with the future. We remember sorrow of historic failures. Repeatedly lives let us down in our best expectations, repeatedly lack of understanding and cruelty won over reasoning bringing suffering to millions of people! We hope that we have learned a lot by our mistakes and will never make them again.

History may give us the last chance to become a prosperous and mighty state whose citizens will, by right, be proud of their Motherland. Our peaceful, hardworking people that have courageously gone through the centuries of its dramatic history should take an honourable well-deserved place in the world community. To achieve this noble goal we, social democrats, are ready to undertake our share of general work, to offer ourselves to share the burden of complex problems. Everything can be achieved if people and leaders of the country possess will, determination, commitment and have a clear-cut and well-thought over strategy for the future.

We possess an invaluable wealth - intellect of people of our country, powerful natural, production scientific and technical potential. Today, as never before, we are in need of a union of all political forces capable of taking a historic stand and realise that they represent the largest and respected party - Ukrainian people.

Everybody, who cares about his own future and the future of his children, who sees his future as part of the future of this country, is welcome to join our project of social changes and support it. Only then, the ideas the project contains, will become a real force that can change our life for better.
